How to Prepare for a Renovation Quote Visit

A useful quote visit starts with a clear picture of what you want to change. You do not need every finish or detail decided beforehand. A short list of goals, priorities, references, and questions gives the conversation a practical place to begin.

Start with the problem you want to solve

Write down what is not working in the current space. A kitchen may need a better layout, a deck may need safer access, or a bathroom may need easier upkeep. Describe the result you want in plain language before worrying about specific products.

If several areas are involved, list them separately. This helps keep the discussion organized and makes it easier to distinguish the main project from optional work.

Separate priorities from preferences

Mark each item as a must-have or a nice-to-have. Must-haves define what the finished project needs to accomplish. Nice-to-haves are details that can be discussed as the scope, materials, and timing become clearer.

Gather photos and useful references

Take clear photos of the existing area, including anything that is difficult to see at first glance. If you have saved examples of layouts, materials, or finishes, choose a few that show the direction you like.

References are most useful when you can explain what caught your attention. It might be the storage, the spacing, the colour, or the way two materials meet. They are a conversation aid, not a final specification.

Bring the questions you want answered

Write questions down as they occur to you. Ask about the parts of the process that matter to your household, such as access to the space, planning decisions, or what information is still needed before the scope can be finalized.

After the visit, review the written quote carefully. If you decide to move forward, the Orestorations process continues through planning, the build, and a final walkthrough.

You can look through completed projects before the visit or request a free quote when you are ready to discuss your project.
